Going Beyond - Revelation

The Church at Pergamum
Satan's Throne
Today's Reading: Revelation 2:12-17

"I know where you live—where Satan has his throne.
Yet you remain true to my name." Revelation 2:13

"Where Satan has his throne" means the church members are surrounded by a very sinful culture, in many ways like the culture in America today.  There are false teachers and false religions preaching things other than what is in Scripture.  They are promoting sinful behavior.  However, God is Holy and desires His children to be holy.

The church at Pergamum is commended for “holding on to My name and not (denying) your faith in Me, even in the days of Antipas.” Rev 2:13.  (Antipas was "my faithful martyr who was slain among you."  Rev 2:13 KJV)

However, Jesus is displeased with the fact that there are some of them worshipping false gods / false religions.  Jesus asks them to repent!

Daily Reflection: Consider your stance on the social climate in America (or wherever you may live).  Where is the "line" in your household? What is ok and what is not allowed? How do you view religions other than Christianity. Do you believe there are many ways to God or just one?  Consider the words of Jesus Himself:
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

Reward Promised to those who overcome:

"To the one who is victorious I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it  known only to the
one who receives it."
Rev 2:17
