Week Nine – Deborah
Psalm
16 - Every Woman’s Journey
By

“I keep the Lord in mind always.
Because He is at my right hand,
I will not be
shaken.” Psalm 16:8
Deborah
was the only woman judge to rule Israel mentioned in the Bible. She was a woman of great faith and her
relationship with God was amazing.
As a
prophetess, she was given a message by God for one of her commanders, Barak son
of Abinoam. It was an order for him to
lead an army of ten thousand warriors to defeat their enemy.
His
response to her was that he would not go without her. It was a very sad display of his lack of
faith in God.
Deborah, however, was very faithful. She knew God personally by spending time with Him everyday. Her faith muscles were huge! She warned Barak that if he did this, his glory would be given to her instead. He agreed. They then went and conquered the enemy together.
What a moment of regret it must have been when Barak was able to recognize that his fear
had kept him from experiencing God’s faithfulness.
“Now faith is confidence in
what we hope for
and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1 NIV
