Marriage is Oneness

 Marriage is Oneness

A lasting marriage is one of the most rich things you can enjoy in life.

I am beyond thankful that God and my husband have not given up on me. And because of this, we will soon celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary!! (All the praise hands!!)

As a young bride, I would have certainly wanted a big trip or a piece of jewelry on this upcoming big day. Only, now that we are here... I am just happy and so blessed that we are a family.

Over the years, we have watched many of our friends and colleagues walk away from their marriages. In some instances, I can see where it all went wrong and how easily that could have been us.

Here are some helpful things we have learned over the years to keep us connected:

~Date nights as often as possible.
~Take weekend trips together.
~Hang out together with other married couples.
~Have common hobbies like camping, cycling, working out, wine tasting, concerts, boating...
~Be honest and open.
~Don't over-react (my big one).
~Communicate and share your heart for intimacy.
~Tell the other sweet things that come to mind.
~There's a history that only you two have and know, so share inside jokes and funny things often.
~Do sweet little things for each other.
~Compliment and thank one another.
~Hold your tongue to complaining or criticism.
~Be each others biggest fan and confidante.
~Do & say the right thing, even when they don't deserve it.
~Kiss (and often).
~Pray together and for each other.
~With every good choice you are keeping your bond.
~The "what about me" went out the window at "I Do."
~Your facial expressions and body language express more than you say, so light up when you see them.
~Believe in will profit you much.
~Do not point fingers or hold a record of wrongs.
~Know the importance of physical connection often.
~Don't Quit.
