Keeping Up Appearances
Today's Reading: Revelation 3:1-6
"You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die." Revelation 3:1-2
This
letter shows that Jesus sees the true intentions of a church, and of a person.
Let’s
be honest for a moment. There have been times when I walked into church and had
no true desire to be there. I had a huge to do list, my children were arguing,
I wasn’t feeling spiritual, etc. It happens. However, if this is how a
Christian feels every time they walk into church, if it is all about keeping up
appearances, then there is a problem.
Daily Reflection: Jesus
wants relationship not religion. Take a good look at your personal desire with
regards to your spiritual disciplines (attending church, prayer, tithes, helping others, etc). Why do you do the things you do? Are you on fire for Jesus or are you just keeping up appearances?
Reward for those who overcome:
“the victor will be dressed in white clothes, and I will never erase (her)
name from the book of life, but will acknowledge (her) name before My Father and
before His angels.” Rev 3:5
