Signs of the Times - Four Blood Moons

Signs of the Times – Four Blood Moons
By Carri Pratt

"The sun will be turned to darkness
    and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
"
Joel 2:31

There will be a “Blood Moon” on April 15, 2014. A Blood Moon occurs when there is a lunar eclipse and the moon appears to be red due to the refraction of red light rays in the atmosphere.

This will be the beginning of a series of lunar and solar eclipses that will be able to be seen from Earth. This series of eclipses will match up to a series of Jewish Holidays in 2014-2015, which is rather rare.

John Hagee has written a book titled Four Blood Moons, that discusses the upcoming series of lunar and solar eclipses.

Historically, the last three times a series of lunar and solar eclipses fell on Jewish holidays, major events happened in Israel. A few of these events were the Spanish Inquisition (200,000 Jews were expelled from Spain), the rebirth of the state of Israel, the Six Day War, and the acquisition of Jerusalem. There have only been three of these types of series in the last 500 years.

According to Hagee’s research on the 2014-2015 series of eclipses, “a Tetrad with a total solar eclipse, historically significant to Israel and falling on the Jewish Feasts with a Shemittah year that corresponds with the Feast of Trumpets… is astronomically rare!”

“Jesus said, ““There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars.””
Luke 21:25

So what is actually happening on April 15?

It will be a Total Lunar Eclipse:

When will it occur?

Find out what time your area will be able to view the eclipse at:

(Maximum eclipse for Central Time Zone Apr 15 at 2:46 am)

Why does the moon turn blood red?
According to Deborah Byrd at earthsky.org, “Sunlight is composed of a range of frequencies. As sunlight passes through our atmosphere, the green to violet portion of the light spectrum is, essentially, filtered out. This same effect, by the way, is what makes our sky blue during the day. Meanwhile, the reddish portion of the spectrum is least affected.”

And everyone who calls
    on the name of the Lord will be saved;
for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
    there will be deliverance,
    as the Lord has said,
even among the survivors
    whom the Lord calls.”
Joel 2:30-32
