The Friday Focus

Choose Sympathy
Encourage someone who is dealing with a loss, disappointment, or hard time with your sympathy.
Avoid terms like: “you’ll get another job”, “she lived a full life”, “tomorrow will be better”, “don’t sweat the small things”.

They don’t need your help. What they need is your sympathy. When someone opens up to you, tell them instead: “Here’s a hug”, “I’m so sorry”, “I understand”, “That must be so hard”.
Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. 1 Peter 3:8
