For Richer or Poorer, In Sickness and in Health

For Richer or Poorer, In Sickness and In Health

by Kim Hawkins

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.  Hebrews 10:23
The vows and covenant we take in marriage can be likened to our commitment to Christ. As we walk with Jesus, we can’t lose faith when life or situations don’t go as planned.
The longer a marriage, the more you realize how important being flexible is for success. That same flexibility is true for our staying in step with the spirit.
When spirit of The Lord gently whispers to our heart:
*We need to be tuned into him, to know him well enough to hear. “Speak Lord, your servant is listening.”
*We should surrender all to God, whatever his will is for us, for that day. Total trust. “Here I am, Lord, send me.”
*We are to die to our fleshly desires and will, being Christ-like—“Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5
It seems like a very big sacrifice, but it’s quite the opposite. Follow the spirit’s promptings and not our own and the stress and frustration will go away. God’s way is simple, peaceful, powerful and not complicated. You will be amazed at the way things just work themselves out without you laboring and stressing.
Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.   Proverbs 3:3
The trials in our marriage have definitely drawn us nearer to each other. God has a mysterious way of drawing us near to him through trials the same way. He also has multiple ways he uses our heartaches to teach and grow us.
Challenge: Commit fully to your spouse and to your savior. Great is your reward!www.titus2women.org
