Lent Season April 07

Going Beyond - Revelation
Carri Lynne Pratt
The Marriage Supper of the Lamb
Today's Reading: Revelation19:6-10
"And the angel said to me, "Write this: Blessed are those
who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb. . . These are
the true words of God." Revelation 19:9

The most anticipated event in all of history is the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Every Christian desires a seat to partake of this joyous occasion.

"Let us rejoice and exult
and give Him the glory,
for the marriage of the Lamb has come,
and His Bride has made herself ready;
It was granted her to clothe herself
with fine linen, bright and pure"
Revelation 19:7-8

Matthew 22 tells us of the parable of the wedding feast as told by Jesus. We know that it was originally prepared for the Jews, but they would not come, that is believe that Jesus is Messiah. Fortunately, the King then opened the invitation to everyone. There is one frightening warning told by Jesus in this parable:

"But when the King came in to look at the guests, He saw there a man
who had no wedding garment. And He said to him, "Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?" . . . Then the King said to the attendants, 'Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' For many are called, but few are chosen." Matthew 22:11-14

This is a strong warning to all Christians to make sure they are wearing their wedding clothes.  Here is a scary thought: research shows that about 50% of people who believe they are Christians are not going to the wedding banquet.  Why?? you ask, because there is just one way to the banquet and it is not by heredity, good works, if your parents are Christians, going to church or anything else we can do for ourselves.

Listen closely, the only way we receive our invitation is by accepting Jesus Christ as the Lord of our lives. We need to recognize why we even need Jesus. It is because we are sinful, and God is holy and we would never survive a second in God's presence without the blood of our Savior to wash us clean.  Accept His free gift, turn towards Him, make Him the Lord of your life and attend the marriage supper of the Lamb with great joy!

Reflection: Will I be attending the Marriage Supper of the Lamb?
