Your Thoughts and Words Will Make or Break You

Your Thoughts and Words Will Make or Break You

Thinking and speaking badly of yourself and situation is a recipe for disaster. Self-hate will certainly wreak havoc in your life evidenced by a string of failed relationships, not being able to advance in your career, keeping a job at all, and/or being unhealthy.

“Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life.”  Proverbs 4:23

Jesus told Thomas, “Stop doubting and believe.” John 20:27

No need to self-protect because: “Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him… “  Deuteronomy 33:12

Jesus said, “Everything is possible for him who believes.” Mark 9:23

Protect This House

Protect This House

by Kim Hawkins

Mamas really do set the temperature or mood in the home. We set the standard for good manners, honor, respect, and gratitude- especially towards daddy. Our laughter and enthusiasm also play a very important role in the atmosphere of our home.

Do we choose joy and give love freely? Do we overlook offenses and not allow ourselves to keep a record of wrongs? It not, it only influences our children to do the same, but it greatly influences our husband and his desire to want to be at home verses to being at work, on the golf course, or anywhere else but at home.

Do we welcome our family home with a warm smile and hot meal or a bad attitude and cold shoulder?

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Romans 12:10

We have control over very little in life, but in the home, is where our legacy is made and where those living inside can flourish under our care.

Many, many women across the globe would love to have what you have.  Could it be that blessings are being taken for granted all too regularly?

Cheer up, count your blessings, and protect that house.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:21

One Year Bible

Carri Pratt

This was quite a crazy week around my house. We had the upstairs flooring ripped out and new flooring put in, we had a sick child in the house, it was grandmother's birthday, our cat ran away (we found him thankfully) and I started back at seminary for the spring semester.

If I were to take a survey, I would bet that your week was pretty close to the same level of "busy-ness."

Why are we talking about how busy we are? Because that is exactly what the enemy uses to draw us away from reading God's word. To be very honest, I think I only picked up my Bible three or four days this week. However, what a different kind of day it becomes when God's truth saturates our being. It can change our attitude, encourage us and give us hope to face the trials of life.

My prayer for you is that as you continue on in your quest to finish the One Year Bible this year, don't become discouraged and don't stop! You might miss a day here or there but keep going, even if you can only get to the Psalms on a busy day, there is power in God's word!

My favorite passage this week is from January 23rd:

"The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever.
The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous.
They are more precious than gold; they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the comb."
Psalm 19:7-10

2012 Retro Wednesday

"Paul never glamorized the gospel! It is not success, but sacrifice! It's not a glamorous gospel, but a bloody gospel, a gory gospel, and a sacrificial gospel! Five minutes inside eternity and we will wish that we had sacrificed more, wept more, bled more, grieved more, loved more, prayed more, given more!!!"
~quote from Leonard Ravenhill

It’s all about JESUS

We are accountable to God, our creator

We have sinned against God and will be judged

Christ died making it possible to be saved

Be truly repentant and turning from sin in heart and action

Receive forgiveness

Take hold of the free gift of eternal salvation

Faith in JESUS

Believing that he is the son of God

Fruits of the spirit (evidence of) will follow genuine transformation

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23

One Year Bible

by Kim Hawkins

As I am reading through Genesis, I have to work to keep an open mind and allow the message to come out, but specifically how it applies to me.
It is very hard not to ask more questions about these people, their problems, and mistakes, but what it has to do with me.

This story of Joseph is my favorite. I imagine I will look for this man in heaven and go to meet him. As I study these passages, I can picture this family, with many of the same issues a family has today.

Joseph has very trying circumstances coming up, but only God knows what is in his future.

The scriptures that come to mind are:

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much….” Luke 16:10

“So we fix our eyes on not what is seen, but what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is seen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18

Favorite Ways To Cut Calories

Favorite Ways To Cut Calories

Carbs are a killer for the waistline, but I really LOVE chips & dip!! So, I now enjoy salsa and other favorite dips with zero carb “chips”. Fresh cut veggies like zucchini, squash, and cucumber cut thick enough to be a vehicle for dip is really satisfying!

To stop eating at 7:00 pm at night makes a big difference, to make it easier, go floss and brush your teeth. But, when I really need something I go for a hot cup of Chamomile tea which also soothes and relaxes.

Flavor your morning coffee with cinnamon, and learn to love lemon in your iced tea.

Every good choice will add up, I promise!

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
