Week
Two – God is our Strength and Refuge - Rahab
by Carri Pratt
“Keep me safe,
my God,
for in You I take refuge.” Psalm 16:1
for in You I take refuge.” Psalm 16:1
We all
face various trials and problems in this world.
It can be very frustrating and sometimes overwhelming how difficult life
can be when you add other people and our own poor choices.
· .
Rahab’s Story:
Rahab
was either an inn keeper or a prostitute according to scholars. She lived in the city wall of Jericho. Her fellow citizens were quite terrified of
rumors they had heard of the Israelites who were about to take over the
city. The people of Jericho had heard
about the power of the God of the Israelites.
Rahab
was a very smart woman. She made a
decision to trust in the one true God and take refuge in Him. She knew that He would keep her safe. Her choice allowed God to keep her and her family safe while others around her were destroyed.
“. .
. for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on earth below.” Joshua 8:11
No
matter what you are facing, God is there for you. He is bigger than any trial and has a
solution for any problem. However, it is up to you to choose to believe in and trust Him. He loves you so much that He gave His only son, Jesus Christ, to allow you direct access to Him.
