Lent Day 6 - Blessed Are You

A Spiritual Journey towards faith in Jesus Christ for Children

Day 6 - Blessed Are You
Scripture Reading: Matthew 5:1-12 The Sermon on the Mount

Family Discussion Starters:

Do you know what Beatitude means?
(Dictionary.com defines this as "supreme blessedness; exalted happiness" Jesus is teaching how to be happy and blessed by the way we live on the earth)

Do you think the world teaches the same things that
Jesus is teaching us?
(No. Actually, the world teaches the direct opposite of what Jesus is teaching in this passage.  This was new to the people that heard Jesus. It might also be new to us who have believed what the world tells us will being blessings.)

Discuss how this could be true: "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven."
(The world can be cruel towards Christians. Many countries persecute Christians and some even put them to death. When we make a stand for Jesus we will be rewarded in Heaven.)
