A Spiritual Journey towards faith in Jesus Christ for Children

Day 16 - Jesus Came For Sinners
Family Scripture Reading: Matthew 9:9-13

Family Discussion Starters

We are reading through the book written by Matthew.
What does this passage say was Matthew's job
when he first met Jesus?
(Matthew was a tax collector. He was a Jewish man who collected money from other Jewish men and women. This was considered a sinful occupation.)

Where did Jesus go for dinner? Who was there?
(Jesus asked Matthew to become one of His followers then went to Matthew's house for dinner. The Pharisees complained that Jesus was eating with sinners.)

Who are sinners? Are you a sinner? Am I a sinner?
(All human beings are sinners. Have you ever told a lie or taken something that did not belong to you? Have you always kept the Sabbath holy or taken God's name in vain? All of us sin. That is exactly why we need Jesus and that is the Good News! Jesus came for all sinners on the earth. All people can ask Jesus to forgive them and receive Him as their personal Savior and Lord of their life.)
