Got Fruit?

 Got Fruit?

by Kim Hawkins

Each of us is like a tree that produces fruit. If we are operating in the spirit, we produce the Fruits of the Spirit.

“But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.”  Galatians 5:22

This may mean many prayers going up throughout your day asking for His love to flow through you. Try it. It truly works!

Operating in the flesh is an ugly, ugly thing. It will look like this: Being critical of others, snapping, yelling, being impatient, keeping a record of wrongs, judging others, and self-medicating from being so stressed out all the time and for not being able to sleep.

“Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.” Matthew 7:17

How does someone change after recognizing their fruit has been rotten? First off, move your eyes off others and take a long, hard look at yourself. When you stop pointing the finger at others, you start to really see what your part is. Here’s where the remorse usually begins. With your now softened heart, go to The Lord. Confess and repent. By confessing any and all unforgiveness, bitterness, hurt, or anger you get rid of the root issues that caused all your bad fruit.

Now that your heart is clean, you may now begin to fully operate in the spirit, your prayers will now have power and your fruit will be OH-SO-SWEET! Your attitude will be sweet, not sour. Your actions will be thoughtful. Your love will be genuine. Your relationships will be delightful and satisfying.

“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” Psalm 143:1
