GENESIS Bible Study Chapter 42
Spiritual Famine
Lessons From Joseph’s Brothers
·
Just like the long journey for Joseph’s brothers
to search out their corn provision, Christ has a provision for us too, a
provision to save us from an eternity in utter separation from Him. But ours is a short journey, all we have to
do is come to him and ask just like Joseph’s brothers asked for their corn of
salvation. (vs. 1-5)
·
Joseph seemed fairly harsh when he spoke with
his brothers, but that was for a purpose.
God sometimes seem harsh, like joseph did, but it’s to bring a spirit of
repentance. (vs 8-18)
·
Just like Christ does, Joseph sent his brother
out with more than they asked for. They
were sent out with the corn they sought as well as the silver they brought. When
we seek the Lord for a particular need, He blesses us by meeting that need in
ways seen and unseen. (vs 25-36)
·
Even though all Jacob could see was the misfortune
of losing Joseph and Benjamin, he did not know that Joseph was waiting to bless
him. It proves it Jacob that God worked
all things for his good. (vs. 37-38) “And we know that in all things God works
for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his
purpose.” Romans 8:28
