Biblical Priority #1 - God
by Kim H.
"God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart" 1 Samuel 16:7
Have you ever gone to someone’s house and complimented them on how nice everything looks and then they reply, “Thanks, but don’t open a drawer or cabinet.” Or, have you said that yourself? We work so hard for everything to appear great and perfect, but is it really? Underneath the surface, is there a real problem that has been stuffed in or covered up. All the “clutter” definitely hinders. Scripture says, "Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men’s hearts." 1 Corinthians 4:5
What are you holding onto that needs to go out with the trash? This New Year, as you go through your house and clean out all the secret places, take time to search your heart as well. Ask the Lord what is in your heart that you need to release to Him? In your home, what does not glorify God that needs to be trashed? In your heart, are you holding onto unforgiveness? Bitterness? Pride? Lust? Doubt? Fear? Unbelief? Control? When we hide all the clutter, the load is too heavy to carry and you were never meant to bear that burden. Jesus paid every price for us on the cross, it’s His burden to carry. Lighten your load TODAY and lay down all that has been in the dark. "For God will bring every deed into judgement, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil." Ecclesiastes 12:14
Challenge: Ask the Lord, as David did, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is a wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24
