of Solomon - Summer of Sizzle

Study Week 10
A
Love That Lasts Forever
By

“Set me as a seal on
your heart...”
Song of Solomon 8:6
God’s
plan for marriage unions is that they won’t end. As most wedding officials say, “What God has joined together let no man
divide.” So what is the secret to
staying together forever?
The
Song of Solomon clearly gives at least 5 keys all married couples should identify:
1 . Be Friends & Lovers to one
another
2 . Have Fun and enjoy life
together
3 . Stay committed
4 . Make good choices
5 . Pick supportive friends
Marriage
is wonderful - and it is difficult - and it is rewarding - and it is
frustrating - and it is a lot of work. A
basic need for a healthy marital relationship is the friends and family who act
as accountability partners for both the husband and wife.
God is
truly a genius and under His inspiration King Solomon included the friends
within the song. The three main
characters are King Solomon, the Shulammite woman, and the friends. So why are the friends there?
Good
question! They are there to give an example of what good friends can do to
accentuate a relationship. After all,
good friends can:
·
Encourage
you to seek God’s wisdom
·
Help
to celebrate your marriage union (Song of Solomon 1:4)
·
Help
you focus on the good points of your spouse (Song of Solomon 5:9)
·
Have
an interest in keeping you together (Song of Solomon 6:1)
·
Bolster
your self-esteem when it is lagging (Song of Solomon 6:1)
·
Share
in special occasions (Song
of Solomon 6:10)
·
Spend
time with you and your spouse (Song of Solomon 6:13)

THE FUN STUFF…Weekly Challenges
Make
a list of you and your spouse’s friends. Go through
the list with your spouse and reflect on whether or not they:
·
Encourage
you to seek God’s wisdom
·
Help
to celebrate your marriage union (Song of Solomon 1:4)
·
Help
you focus on the good points of your spouse (Song of Solomon 5:9)
·
Have
an interest in keeping you together (Song of Solomon 6:1)
·
Bolster
your self-esteem when it is lagging (Song of Solomon 6:1)
·
Share
in special occasions (Song
of Solomon 6:10)
·
Spend
time with you and your spouse (Song of Solomon 6:13)
Then
consider if you and your spouse are supportive friends to other couples.
Spend
some time with a supportive couple this week. Encourage one another to celebrate both of
your holy unions of wedded bliss.
