Lent Day 18 Help Wanted - Workers Needed

A Spiritual Journey towards faith in Jesus Christ for Children

Day 18 - Help Wanted - Workers Needed
Family Scripture Reading: Matthew 9:35-10:8

Family Discussion Starters

What was Jesus doing in the towns and villages He visited?
( Jesus was proclaiming the Good News and healing people.)

Jesus said, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few."
Matt 9:37, what do you think He meant by this?
(There are many people on the earth who do not know about Jesus. Many people who do know about Him may be fearful of sharing their faith and telling others about Him. Jesus wants more of His followers to "work the harvest" and tell people about Him and the Good News of His salvation for all people.)

Discuss the names of the 12 Apostles that Jesus chose.
Do any of these names sound familiar?
Who were the first four to follow Jesus?
(The Apostle's names are listed in Matt 10:2-4. The first four to follow Jesus were Andrew, Simon Peter, James and John. Matthew 4:18-22)

Do you have to be an Apostle to be a Disciple of Jesus Christ?
(No. All who proclaim faith in Jesus should be His Disciples. You become a Disciple by having a desire to learn how to live from Jesus. This can be discovered by reading the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.  Each Gospel is an account of the Life of Christ.)
