God’s Will for
Christmas
By Carri Pratt
“For I have come down from heaven not to do My will but to do the will of Him who sent me.” John 6:38
NIV
As Christmas approaches I am reminded of why I love this
season. There are Christmas trees,
Christmas cookies, and fun times with my family. Christians are also reminded of the most
important thing about Christmas, the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ. He is our focal point.
Jesus was born to do the will of the one who sent Him. He was to live and die with no special privileges,
even though He was the Son of God. As the
‘One Heir to it all’ He could have had a first class royal life; however God
had a different plan for Him.
He was to be born in a stable, live in a small town and die
on a cross. I would say this would have been far from anyone’s
idea of the perfect life. But God saw it
and planned it as the most perfect life.
He planned Jesus to be the Savior of humanity.
God has done the same for you, me and all of human
kind. He has designed a plan and has a specific
will for each of our lives. The only way
we can truly know God’s will is to follow Him, spend time with Him and pray for
His will to be revealed to us.
The Holy Spirit will prompt you and when you are living
beyond your own abilities, you will know that God is living through you to help
each step, and each day of your life.
Challenge: This
Christmas season, meditate on the fact that Jesus was born to carry out God’s
will. Pray that God will reveal His will for your
life.
Merry Christmas!
