Q and A

Q and A
By Amy Gentry

Q: I know Jesus CAN help me, but how do I know Jesus WILL help me when I pray?
A: There is an example of this in scripture.  The father instantly cried out, "I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!" (Mark 9:24)  How can you believe but have unbelief?  I think it comes down to 2 factors:
·         Believing God’s promises, moving the head knowledge into heart knowledge—When I am actively reading God’s Word every day, expecting to hear from Him, His promises come alive in my heart.  “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.  Does he speak and then not act?  Does he promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19)
·         Choosing to trust that the LORD is faithful— Not trusting in my faithfulness, but His.  “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these?  If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” (Romans 8:31)
