Genesis
Bible Study – Chapter 27
By
Carri Pratt
“Your
brother came deceitfully and took your blessing.” Genesis 27:35
God had
planned big things for Jacob’s life.
Both Isaac and Rebekah knew this to be true.
However,
Rebekah grew impatient and worried. She thought it was necessary to step in and
take control, in order to protect Jacob.
What a mess
she created! She deceived her husband,
encouraged her youngest son to lie, and devastated her oldest son.
Lesson
learned: Let God do His own thing!
We, as
God’s precious children, seem to create problems for ourselves when we are
impatient and scared. When temptation and desire are tossed into the mix, huge
errors in judgment can occur. The main thing to remember is that God has a plan
for every life He has created.
“For I know the plans I have for
you,” declares the Lord,
“plans to prosper you and not to
harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
How much
better it would have been for everyone if Rebekah had simply given God the
reigns. How much better would my own personal situation be if I could give God
the reigns? As Carrie Underwood proclaims, “Jesus take the wheel!”
Challenge: Give God the opportunity to work
His plan for your life.
