Genesis 26 Bible
Study
Like Father, Like Son
Reading Genesis 26 is almost a mirror image to Genesis 20 -
just one generation removed.
·
This time the promise is made to Isaac (vs.4),
·
Isaac lied to Abimelech about his wife being his
sister (vs.7),
·
Abimeleck finds out that the sister is really
the wife (vs.10),
·
Abimeleck gave order for him to be released
unharmed (vs.11),
·
The Lord blessed him with great wealth (vs.13),
·
Isaac opened up the same wells as Abraham
(vs.18),
·
The LORD repeats his promise from to Isaac
(vs.24), and
·
Isaac worships the LORD (vs.25).
Whether we want to admit it or not, we are effected by our
parent’s stories. Some may be stories of
great faith or others may be stories of great adversity, but either way the
Lord can use these experiences to do a good work in you, for His glory.
“And we know that in all things God works
for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his
purpose.” Romans 8:28
