Genesis - In the Beginning

Genesis – In the Beginning
By Carri Pratt

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.”
Genesis 1:31

900 seats sold out in 2 minutes online to attend a debate on February 4, 2014 to discuss Creation vs. Evolution at the Creation Museum in Petersburg, KY.  This is a historic debate between Bill Nye, The Science Guy and Ken Ham author of Answers in Genesis.  Obviously there is great interest in watching how Christians are going to promote and defend their belief in God Almighty, Creator of the Universe.

What to say to your kids

Christian women around the globe are increasing their knowledge of what is true by reading the truth for themselves and training their children to embrace Creation over Evolution.

I am thrilled to take this journey through Genesis with you!  Let's get started by discussing last week's reading assignment, Genesis chapter one.

10 Natural Wonders of the World

There are several topics of interest within chapter one.

The first, of course, being that God is the creator of all things and he calls his creation good.

The next one lies in Genesis 1:26, “Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image.”

Notice that God says two important things here, that mankind is made in God’s image, and that God refers to “Our” image.

  • Every single person has tremendous value because each one of us bears God’s image. There is nothing better than that.
  • God is “Our” which refers to the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus was present at the beginning of creation. As John 1:1 states, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Jesus is known as the Word.

Finally, God creates man and woman and commands them to, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.” Genesis 1:28. God created the family and he called it good.

Our families are a sacred trust from God. They are precious and should be seen as a treasure to protect.

The same way a family should be protected, our world was also given to us as a trust and should be cared for and protected.

Join us in discovering the amazing truth of Genesis this year.  Each Monday we will post a recap of the previous week's reading.

This week’s reading:  Genesis 2:1-25

Creation:
There are many points of view on how creation was actually formed. There is the view that it was all done in 6-24 hour periods, this is what the “Young Earth” scientists believe. Then there are those who say that the earth is billions of years old and the days are actually millenniums not hours. Some say God created the world while others cling to Darwin’s theory of evolution.

So, which is correct?  This is a modern day dilemma and there will be an intriguing debate between Bill Nye, the Science Guy and Ken Ham, author of Answers in Genesis at the Creation Museum on February 4, 2014.  Live streaming information can be found at: Live Streaming Information

We encourage you to talk with your children about what they are learning in school and take part in discussing what you believe to be true with them.
