The Little Things

The Little Things

“Some women forget that God is honored by the little things we do, and there are many little things to be done on the way to the pursuit of life.” –Dorothy Kelley Patterson

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord and not to men.” Colossians 3:23

One Year Bible

One Year Bible
By Kim Hawkins

Last weeks reading was especially tough in the Old Testament. The descriptions of the animal sacrifices are very hard to read. This is really difficult for me to imagine because I’ve never been around hunting, not in my family growing up or with my husband, and we are all animal lovers.

I found myself literally cringing as a read the detailed accounts of their sin offerings. I wanted to stop or speed through this part of the readings. While thinking how does this apply to me, something very important struck me....

That we are currently in the season of Lent. This is the most important season for a believer; the days leading up to the cross, and the ultimate shedding of blood-our very own sin sacrifice.

After the crucifixion of Christ there were no animal sacrifices required ever again. Christ’s death was slow, painful, bloody, awful, but necessary for our salvation. We cannot rejoice in the sheer beauty of Jesus dying for our sin without first knowing the awful, bloody truth.

All of that was for me. He took all my sin and shame shedding his blood to cover me making me white as snow. The spotless lamb was sacrificed in exchange for my life and yours.

“Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.” Hebrews 9:27

Life In Christ

Life In Christ

I forgive
because I have been forgiven of much.

I love
because I have been loved much.

“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:5

Lent Calendar & Activities for Children

Lent 2015

Lent can be a wonderful time of reflection, repentance, and service in the lives of Christians. There are many ways to use this time of year to teach your children about Jesus, His life, death, and resurrection.

This year Easter is on April 5, 2015. Therefore, Lent begins on Wednesday, February 18 and ends on Saturday, April 4. The six Sundays during Lent are not counted among the 40 days and are considered a day of rest from your personal fasting.

"In our busy lives we fill ourselves with candy, buy new toys, play video games and watch t.v. which makes us happy but that happiness is temporary. During Lent we stop filling our lives with temporary happiness and make more room for God. The church encourages prayer, fasting, service and almsgiving during Lent as ways we can turn our hearts and minds to God." ClassyChaos.com

Time For A Heart Connection

 Time For A Heart Connection

If you ask someone who has divorced their spouse if they have any regrets, most do and similar to this: “I wish I had tried more,” “I wish I had known then what I know now,”  "I wish I had fought for our marriage.”

If your hubby isn't such a good planner, you plan something special for the two of you this Valentine's Day. It doesn't have to be elaborate or expensive--just get creative, be playful, and make it special. Who made the plans or reservation isn't the point, but that you make a heart connection with your man.

As you tend to your husband, your love will grow deep and blossom beautifully.

“ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”  1 Corinthians 13:4-7
