Mentor Moms: Teaching Our Children -
Who Is The Holy Spirit?
Carri Pratt
The thought of teaching the attributes of the Holy Spirit to our children
may be a bit daunting. However, although the Holy Spirit might not be spoken of
as often as Jesus, He is certainly just as important.
Think of the wonderful things He is and provides for all born again
Christians:
We are baptized with the Holy Spirit – Matthew 3:11
He is given to those who ask God – Luke 11:13
He gives us words to say to defend our faith – Luke 12:11-12
He gives us power to be a witness for Jesus Christ – Acts 1:8
We are filled with the Holy Spirit when we become Christians – Acts
2:4
He warns us against trouble – Acts 20:23
Our bodies are temples that house the Holy Spirit – 1 Corinthians 6:19
He seals us for the day of redemption - Ephesians 1:13 & 4:30
He grieves when we disobey God – Ephesians 4:30
As human beings we are in desperate need of the Holy Spirit to overcome
the fleshly desires and temptations we are surrounded by in today’s world.
As moms we need to understand if our children have not yet accepted Jesus
Christ as Lord and Savior, then they do not have the power of the Holy Spirit
living inside them and the things of God are more difficult to understand. It is also more difficult to overcome
temptation without the Holy Spirit living in us.
This summer we will discover the amazing attributes and power of the Holy Spirit that we can share with our children. Join us weekly for easy to use ways to "train up your child" in the ways of the Lord.
