You May Be Bound By The Enemy If You...

You May Be Bound By The Enemy If You..

Have trouble being kind or giving a compliment (Wounded)

Stuck in destructive thoughts especially about yourself by being caught in the comparison, envy, and jealousy trap (Self Hate)

Thoughts of yourself or situation are of shame; mostly negative, hopeless, and no self-worth. (Unworthy)

Bitterness, disappointment, hurt, and unforgiveness are the root issue of the protective walls you've built around yourself (Trust issue)

Blaming God and ignoring him because you feel he has abandoned you (Godless)

Working tirelessly to earn the love and forgiveness of God (Religion)

Being controlling and manipulating (FEAR)

Isolation from the world or non-stop busyness (Escapism)

This was me...not all of them, but I was stuck in many of these places. For years I had felt as if I were pulling a trailer. Then I decided to tackle my heavy load with God and also a wonderful counselor.

All these are tools the enemy of our soul uses to keep us in his control (and useless). It is not God, he is GOOD and only sees you as GOOD (and useful).

I had to stop allowing the enemy to be the voice that told me this junk. I could easily know truth once the lies were no longer my dwelling place.

It starts as a daily, sometimes hourly choice, but you must keep it up and it will be life changing.

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery."
Galatians 5:1

"Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." Luke 10:19

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Romans 12:2

Engage and Invest

Engage And Invest

There is so much time that we moms are in the car together with the kiddos, so one day I decided to be intentional with all that time. It's awesome to just turn off the radio and engage with the kids.

They really love it when I point out things to them around town--there's so many interesting things to see!

Look guys a rainbow!! Or clouds in the shape of a dinosaur or dragon, a limousine or convertible, a funny guy in a chicken costume, a donkey or a speckled horse, a super cool muscle car, an antique car, a train or firetruck, or a side cart on a motorcycle!

Spark conversation and curiosity at the same time as you are training them to talk with you. You will really appreciate this when they feel close to you and want to continue to talk as they mature and become teens.

Sing, tell jokes and laugh....practice math facts or memorize scripture together--whatever it is, just keep them engaged and you will win their heart and create relationship.

"May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."   Romans 15:5-6

A Beautiful Mess

A Beautiful Mess

Marriage isn't supposed to be easy. It's no fairy tale no matter how wonderful of a wedding you planned.

To succeed in a rewarding marriage you continually lose parts of yourself everyday.

Being great together makes you better, if you allow it to. It refines you (like children also do, especially teenagers ;-).

Marriage reveals the worst parts of ourselves. Examples like: selfishness, fear, jealousy, protective walls, unforgiveness, anger, pride, hurt, and so on...

If you hold onto those kinds of things they will destroy any possibility of the intimacy and oneness that marriage was created for.

Looking back on close to 23 years of marriage, I can't help but see an amazing redemptive plan for us as individuals that wouldn't have happened w/o the marriage.
